Asimo at National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation

Miraikan, the National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, allows a hands-on exploration of current developments in science and technology. Created by Japan's Science and Technology Agency, Miraikan examines four different fields: Earth Environment and Frontiers; Innovation and the Future; Information Science and Technology for Society; and Life Science.

Some highlights include interacting with Asimo, the Honda robot, a planetarium, virtual reality rides, seismometers displaying the earthquake activity of Japan, and a model maglev train (magnetic levitation transport). With a multilingual staff, many of the exhibits are explained in English and Japanese. Earphone guides are also available in English.

Miraikan is set in Odaiba-Ariake, a popular district connected to the Tokyo waterfront by the Rainbow Bridge. Other sights in Odaiba include Aqua City Odaiba and Palette Town, which features one of the world's largest ferris wheels.
